The Lowepro Flipside 300 Backpack has been on the scene for a few years and there is a host of features packed into this tardis like bag.
One of the main features of the bag is that the opening is on the inside which is a massive plus security wise.
Ideal in busy areas such as city centres, no theives will be able to get into the main compartment and steal your equipment.
The Flipside 300 is made from weather proof material but not waterproof which will tolerate some light rain but not a proper soaking.
If you spend a lot of time outdoors with the changeable UK weather your probably best off looking at bags with waterproof covers.
The main compartment of the Flipside 300 is accessed from the back of the bag, the part that rests against your back.
The compartment is double zipped and provided with several velcroed flaps so you can fashion the required compartments to the size of your lenses.
At the top of the inside compartment is a small removable zip compartment this compartment is for your accessories such as your charging brick, spare batteries etc etc.
The main compartment will accommodate a DSLR with battery grip and a 70-200mm 2.8 lens with hood reversed down its main length. Remove the top compartment and you will be able to fit your DSLR with a Canon 300mm 2.8L.
The rest of the main compartment will accomodate a couple of standard lenses such as the 17-55mm 2.8 and the 10-22mm with a flashgun.
The opening flap of the main compartment features a flat top opening zip pocket which is ideal for flat items such as your manual or small tablet.
One side of the backpack has a mesh pocket which is ideal for carrying your bottle of water while on the other side of the Flipside 300 is a tall zip compartment
Inside this compartment is 2 flapped and velcroed memory card pockets, 2 open pockets, 2 pen pockets and a key clip for convenient storage of your keys.
The compartment is further secured with open top mesh creating a natural pocket when the compartment is opened. This compartment is for all your small accessories.
The front of the bag has a tripod loop so your tripod can be slotted in and secured.
At the base of the bag is a velcro pocket where a base pulls out for the legs of your tripod to sit on.
This pocket can also be used to stash other bits and pieces if necessary.
The Flipside 300 has padded mesh backing and padded straps for maximum comfort the straps can be secured accross your body with a clip.
The backpack is finished off with a hanging loop and hand carrying on the top end of the bag.
The only 2 disadvantages of the bag are that you have to take it off to get inside and the lack of waterproof cover which could have easily been slipped in at the bottom it’s actually surprising Lowepro left this out.
The Lowepro Flipside 300 backpack has genorous carrying ability with brilliant security and can be carried around comfortably all day.
Lowepro Flipsides are also avaliable in a smaller 200 and larger 400, 500 & 600 sizes for those of us who might need a smaller or larger version.
